Tropical Scandal is a legal crime thriller written by David Myles Robinson . This is the fifth installment from the author and a standalone with the protagonist, Pancho McMartin. Set in Honolulu, Hawaii, the book is a page-turner that will keep you guessing till the end, wanting to know what happens next throughout. This is based on real political controversies in Hawaii.

Pancho is requested to take the case of a young drug dealer accused of murdering his grandmother, whom he lovingly calls Tutu. As the case unravels, many secrets come out that can damage powerful people and uncover the biggest scandal the judiciary system has ever seen. Even with a great team and support system behind him, will Pancho be able to solve this challenging task? This is the premise of the book.

The best part of the book is the location it is set in. The author succeeded in giving the reader the amazing ambience of Hawaii. Another element I liked were the characters. The readers experience the characters through the protagonist. We also get to know Pancho through his thoughts and inner monologue. Other characters include his best friend and investigator, Drew, who is a former NFL lineman; his secretary; his girlfriend; Dayton, the imprisoned drug dealer who he is advocating for; and a plethora of other characters to build up the story and mold it into an amazing thriller. All characters are multi-layered. The unfolding of the crime through realistic courtroom drama is very entertaining.

There are realistic adult language and occasional love scenes in the book. So, this book is categorized as an adult drama. I do not have any negatives about the book, and this is a well-edited book as well. This is a perfect read for those who enjoy legal crime thrillers. I give this book a wholehearted 5 out of 5 rating.
