R J Torbet in his book The Face of Fear unfolds a nightmare before the eyes of an overprotective father. This crime filled mystery had me wondering what I would do if this catastrophe had to land on my door step. It had me following up and recalculating the steps of the victims last whereabouts.

William Lance , an overprotective father who has an incredibly smart teenage daughter called Debbi Lance. Due to the fact that the dad is a cop, Debbie is not allowed to end her day without a phone call to her dad or else , she will be grounded without a phone for an entire week. Debbie decides to go on the Ferry and later on meet up with her friends at the Theatre .William takes her to the Ferry without entering it with her then goes back home. While parking her car in the Ferry, she is punched unconscious and put in her own trunk .

Cross Island has never been known for such dilemmas. This was a first in a long while. The father is alerted by Debbie's friends that she never showed up for the Theatre at 8:06 pm, four hours after the father took her to the Ferry. If William Lance doesn't lose his mind now, he will never know when to do so.

Paul is introduced to us with his shy ,very smart and investigative personality as the detective partnered with Bud behind this case. He re-traces Debbie's steps into and out of the Ferry and realises the lack of safety and security in the Ferry. The smart twenty nine year old detective from Suffold County Police Department cannot stop meditating upon case . Will Paul find Debbie alive? Is the father the target or is this some random kidnapping ?? Is there a serial kidnapper in Cross Island?? To find out more get yourself a copy of The face of fear by R J Torbet.

This is such a greatly compiled book that you forget you have chores to get to afterwards. The descriptive nature of it, the characters introduced are all different as we all are in a workplace and the story unfolds slowly allowing us to live each day in patiently waiting for Debbies rescue. This caused the suspense in the bpok and the author did that very well.

The grammatical errors were few and if you are someone who doesn't pay attention while reading, you might easily miss them. Instead of " happened" there's rather " happen" kind of mistakes. I'm giving this book A 4 out of 5 rating . It is particularly a good book it just needs a little improvement. It's a book anyone can read and be lost in its imagination.
