Special Agent Nash Running Bear must return to her hometown for an assignment. A skeleton has been found in Bone Creek, and the FBI is sending an agent to investigate. Nash knows the area, and she realizes that she is the best agent for the job. The locals are difficult to work with, and she has been having dreams about the murder. When Nash arrives, she realizes that this murder is more complicated than first anticipated. Will Nash catch the murderer? Grab a copy of A Skeleton in Bone Creek by Baer Charlton to find out.

I appreciated how the characters took a front seat in this novel. I find that with fast-paced murder mysteries, the characters often are overshadowed by the plot. However, this is not the case. Nash has a lot of struggles throughout the novel, such as returning to her hometown and her wife's cancer treatment. She is also concerned because she is having visions about the murder. All of these factors add a lot of pressure on Nash and give a lot of opportunities for character development.

I also appreciated the pace at which the book moved. The investigation of Bone Creek had many different twists and turns. As I followed along with the detectives, I was pleasantly surprised when a new clue would turn up that made my theory wrong. I was kept guessing until the very end!

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. The book was well-edited, had excellent characters, and an engaging plot. I also appreciated how Charlton added details about Native American culture and featured LGBTQ characters. There was nothing that I disliked about it. The book does contain strong language and is better suited for adults. If you enjoy murder mysteries set in a small town, then I highly recommend that you consider reading A Skeleton in Bone Creek!
