Kaylin McFarren's Soul Seeker draws us into the haunting tale of Benjamin Poe, a man whose life is marred by an unspeakable tragedy—the death of his son, Gabriel, for which he is convicted. Yet, this tragic event serves as a mere precursor to a descent into the realm of the supernatural, where Poe must face a demonic force that seeks to claim his soul, propelling him down a dangerous path of self-discovery and redemption.

The book launches with a gripping and intense opening, thrusting us into the midst of Poe's desperate situation. As he confesses to his lawyer, it becomes clear that his goal is not to justify his actions but to uncover the dark and bizarre truth that led to the tragedy. Through Poe's retelling of the events, a sense of tension and unease builds, culminating in a shocking claim: he insists that he is innocent and was forced to commit a horrific act to save his son from a far more sinister force. This bold and captivating blend of crime and the paranormal raises numerous questions, keeping readers enthralled and invested in the story, eager to unravel the truth alongside Poe.

The book's genre-bending blend of mystery, family dynamics, and supernatural elements creates a thrilling and rapid-paced narrative that I found very interesting. The story's unique structure, told through Poe's confession, provides an immersive and firsthand account of the events as they unfold. The author's chosen perspective effectively draws the reader into the story, making it a captivating and engaging read. The characters are well-crafted and complex, with Poe's emotional pain and desperation evoking a strong sense of empathy. Even the demon, Crighton, is an intriguing and formidable villain, whose motivations and powers are skillfully shrouded in mystery, adding to the suspense.

I was thoroughly impressed with this book, which masterfully blends multiple genres to create a unique and captivating story. There was absolutely nothing I disliked about the book. With its flawless editing and well-crafted plot, I award it a perfect 5 out of 5 star rating. This book is a must-read for fans of suspenseful fiction, offering a gripping and thought-provoking experience that explores complex themes and features well-developed characters, all set against a backdrop of crime, family drama, and the supernatural.
