In Kaylin McFarren's Soul Seeker, the protagonist, Benjamin Poe, a firefighter, grapples with a failing marriage and a troubled relationship with his son, which is further complicated by the malicious influence of Crighton. As the story progresses, we learn about Crighton's past, revealing his bond with a divine being and his struggle against darkness. Crighton's journey toward redemption involves facing his past, seeking hope, and making amends, which adds depth to his initially antagonistic role.

This book's exploration of the balance between good and evil is one of my favorite themes. McFarren's fantasy-driven narrative shows that no character is entirely innocent. Crighton, for instance, has both malevolent and conscientious traits. He evolves to become more empathetic and learns to forgive those he loves. The angels in the story are not entirely virtuous; some are predatory and wicked. I love the contrast between a well-intentioned demon and a corrupt fallen angel. Although the book might seem like a typical romantic fantasy, the author encourages readers to judge characters by their actions rather than their superficial traits or classifications.

I have to add that this is a perfect book. While there are some gruesome and scary scenes, the overall plot is very inspirational. I'm particularly interested in how it contrasts angels and devils and examines the disparities between Heaven and Hell.
What impresses me most is the author's exceptional creativity in crafting engaging characters and plotlines. The skillful development of side stories enhances the main narrative beautifully. The vivid descriptions of demons and Hell are particularly striking, drawing parallels to religious texts and adding an authentic feel to the fantasy world. The way the author weaves these elements together is truly remarkable.

I rate this book a solid 5 out of 5 stars for its powerful lessons and engaging characters. It's a must-read for anyone who loves fiction about angels and demons, with themes of good and evil, love, and soulmates. The novel is both intriguing and full of action.
