Olivia, a nurse, is trying to get her life back on track following a toxic relationship. She was charged because of her ex's drug selling and trains extensively in self-defense in case he tries to come crawling back to her. After a chance encounter, Olivia learns that she is an oracle. Four handsome strangers guard her as a member of their pack as her eyes are opened to supernatural forces beyond her imagination. Will Olivia be able to save her newfound guardians from the growing danger? Find out by reading Romulus: City of Angels by C.E. Gideon.

I appreciated the world-building details that were featured in this novel. The pack that takes Olivia in follows strict, military-esque rules. They have guidelines for everything in their lives, including their diet. Olivia's chocolate was considered contraband in their apartment and created an interesting dynamic. Their apartment was also built to be functional above all else. Most of their furniture was on wheels to make for more efficient movement of tables and desks.

The character development was also excellent. As Olivia learned more about the supernatural threats she was facing, she became more and more determined to learn about her powers to protect herself and her guardians. There were also little details sprinkled throughout, such as one of the pack members, Arthur, who could not speak and used ASL, that forced Olivia to learn new skills to fit in and be a better member of the team. The characters were dynamic and well-developed.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. The book was well-edited. It was an engaging mix of action, romance, and fantasy elements. The extensive world-building and lore kept me immersed in the thrilling world that Gideon created. There was also nothing that I disliked about this book. It does contain sexual content, violence, and profane language, so it is only suitable for mature audiences. If you are looking for a dark fantasy novel that features detailed lore, then look no further than Romulus: City of Angels!

This book took me on an exhilarating journey into a world where supernatural forces collide with everyday life. A very interesting book.

I appreciate that this story has an inclusive element in it: the use of sign language by one of the characters. I hope Olivia didn't have to give up the chocolate completely. I empathize with her on this matter! LOL. Gideon wrote a five-star novel. The creation of worldbuilding, lore, and the good editing makes this a book I will add to my bookshelves. Great review!

Well now, this here Romulus: City of Angels by C.E. Gideon seems like a mighty interesting read. A nurse caught up in a toxic relationship, training in self-defense, and stumbling upon supernatural forces? Sounds like quite the thrill ride! The world-building and character development mentioned in the review got me mighty intrigued. I reckon this here book would make for a good read with its mix of action, romance, and fantasy elements. I'd give it a solid 5 outta 5 stars. Just gotta keep in mind, it ain't for the faint of heart with its sexual content, violence, and cussin'. So, if you're lookin' for a dark fantasy adventure, give Romulus a shot, ya hear? Powerful themes, explored with sensitivity and depth.
