In Breath of Death: An Oilfield Mystery (Oilfield Mysteries Book 3), Malvina Lerma takes readers on an exciting journey into the world of oil drilling, corporate sabotage, and personal struggles. The story revolves around Charlie Pergolas, a strong-willed and determined woman who is trying to do her job while dealing with financial problems and strange accidents at the drilling site.

The story follows Charlie Pergolas, who accepts a job in Santa Maria despite her concerns because she needs the money. Charlie is good at her job, but things start going wrong at the drilling site. There are many accidents, and she starts to think someone is trying to sabotage the company. The plot has many twists and turns, with Charlie dealing with accidents, poisoning, and even a hit-and-run accident. The suspense builds up as she tries to find out who is behind the sabotage. The mystery keeps you guessing until the end, with the author doing a great job of keeping the reader engaged.

One of the things I loved most was how well Lerma captured the intense environment of the oil industry in this book. The technical details were explained in a way that even someone unfamiliar with the field could understand, adding depth and authenticity to the story. Charlie's character was relatable, and her persistence and strength made her a compelling protagonist. Her budding relationship with Ben provides a softer contrast to the high-stakes drama at the rig, and their moments together offer a glimpse of hope amidst the chaos.

Overall, there was absolutely nothing I disliked about this book. The pacing of the book was well done and will keep its readers hooked without feeling overwhelmed. This book was free of errors, which shows its impeccable editing. The ending of the book was satisfying, providing a sense of closure to the story. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars for its engaging storyline and well-developed characters. If you enjoy mysteries with a strong female lead and a detailed look into the oil industry, this book is a must-read.
