"Morrow's Con" by Earl James is a thrilling start to a series that dives into the world of heists, complex characters, and nonstop suspense. Set in Phoenix, Arizona, the story follows Morrow, a man trying to leave his past behind while working for a crime boss. Right from the beginning, we're thrown into a world where every move counts and danger is always near.

Morrow stands out as a clever, quick-thinking character who hates violence. Despite his criminal job, he has a strong sense of right and wrong, making him both likeable and intriguing. The plot revolves around a high-stakes heist to return a stolen painting to its rightful owner, Jacob Almeda. What seems like a simple job soon turns into a dangerous mission filled with surprises and tough enemies.

Earl James does a fantastic job of building suspense with a countdown to the heist, keeping readers hooked. The characters are well-developed, especially Morrow's team, who each bring something special to the story. Tara, Mr. LeBlanc's assistant, is a standout character, adding extra tension with her unpredictable actions.

The detailed descriptions bring Phoenix's dark side to life, immersing readers in a world of crime and cons. The planning of the heist is meticulously described, making the story feel real and tense.

What makes "Morrow's Con" unique is its focus on redemption and second chances. Morrow's journey is about more than just pulling off a heist; it's about fixing past mistakes and seeking redemption. This adds emotional depth to the story, making Morrow's struggles and successes even more engaging.

The book is well edited, with no grammatical errors, making for a smooth read. James's writing is fast-paced and filled with sharp dialogue. While the focus on realism sometimes leaves the emotional relationships a bit underdeveloped, it doesn't take away from the enjoyment of the novel. I didn't dislike anything in this book after reading it.

In conclusion, "Morrow's Con" is a fantastic start to an exciting series. Earl James has created a gripping thriller with a fascinating main character. Fans of crime and heist stories will love this book, and I highly recommend it. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series to learn more about Morrow and his world.
