Changing a system that has been in place even before you were born could be one of the most difficult things to do. It comes with a lot of challenges and trials, which you must be able to overcome in order to effect the change else you continue in that system. In the book Born Into Crime by Louise Hansen, we see how a character from a young age fights against an evil system that has been there for years.
 
In this book, Lacey happens to be the most interesting character to look out for; she came from a family with lots of complexities and history. But then it wasn’t just a usual complexity; this family has done evil, even to the extent of her mom and grandmother trying to kill her at different stages in her life. Her father, Merlin, would have been a victim of the family evil if not that he had a higher power. But then Lacey was determined to be different and not take part in the family's evil. But then she is pivotal to keeping these evil traditions that have been there for years. Would she be able to win this battle?
 
It's amazing to have read a book like this; it was short but then carried a lot of weight. Lacey is a character in this book I so much admire. An evil tradition that has been there for years and has bound the family, but she decided not to tread that path. This tells me that even in the midst of a great crowd doing the wrong thing, I can be different. For me, this was the biggest message of this book, and it was very fascinating. The book was very organized and flowed in a coherent manner. I loved how the author kept the writing very simple, which gave room for easy understanding.
 
This book had excellent editing; however, I found a few errors while reading. Also, the last chapter of the book felt rushed as it contained lots of information that wasn’t well detailed. These were the little drawbacks I noticed in the course of my reading. Considering the level of quality the book has, it still maintains a five out of five stars rating. I also would recommend this book to lovers of crime thrillers.
