Review of The Road to Angeland
Dean had just left prison after committing another crime there, and no one would be able to track him. He has long dreamed of being a member of Angeland, also known as the “hate group” founded by Earl. As soon as he left prison, he made all necessary searches on how to join the “Avenging Angels” and perhaps become the leader, but he needed a female companion to enter. On his way to Angeland, he stopped and kidnapped Rebecca, leaving her family wrecked. Rebecca outsmarted him and ran away; unfortunately, he saw Sheriff Ben carrying her on the horse. He trailed them down. Ben went in search of the man who stole the joy of the Freeman family and left Rebecca with Maggie and Hank. Ben had asked Maggie out, but she hadn't given him a suitable reply. She was at home waiting for Ben when she received a call and also heard a devastating noise that changed everything.
The beauty of the story is in its brevity and how the first-person narrative switched from Maggie to Dean. I enjoyed the flow of the story and how beautifully it was written. There were so many suspense stories that were not easy to unravel without reading the story in full. It breaks my heart to imagine that there are people like Dean Butler living amidst us. Fine, he got what he should, but what about those who didn't deserve what they got?
The Road to Angeland by Kay Olsen is one book that will make readers emotional and help them better understand the essence of time. The story speaks of love, strength, friendship, and service. I must confess, Kay did a good job with the story, and I have nothing to dislike about the book.
It was exceptionally well edited and deserves a perfect rating of 5 out of 5 stars due to all the reasons afore-mentioned. I recommend the story to adults, young adults, and lovers of well-thought-out books.
