The story centers on newlyweds Kelly and Tom McBride, who are enjoying their vacation at the Barefoot Resort on a picturesque Caribbean island. Their romantic getaway takes a dramatic turn when Kelly accidentally discovers a hidden room filled with high-tech equipment in a seemingly ordinary gift shop. This discovery reveals a plot to launch an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack that threatens to cripple North America's infrastructure. With Kelly's life in danger and the terrorists closing in, she manages to send a message to her brother, Senator Mike McBride, who quickly informs the CIA. As the story unfolds, Kelly and Tom must navigate a web of espionage and danger to prevent a catastrophic attack.

Dorothy May Mercer skillfully blends romance with high-stakes action, creating a narrative that is both engaging and educational.
