Greatness comes with a price. For a world power and an influential nation like the USA and Israel, it is no surprise that they would be under constant attack by enemies. Iran strikes again in this fictional book, The Date Farm, by Jack Winnick.

Lara and Uri are now finally married. They are spending a sweet time together in Lara’s parents’ home in the countryside. They were having a good time until tragedy struck. Iran had set off a bomb in a shopping center in Los Angeles, leading to the loss of lives, including that of the bombers, as usual. The terrorists immediately started planning another attack in the United States. However, the FBI has informed Lara and Uri, whose jobs demand that they swing into action, cutting their vacation short. Will Lara and Uri, as well as the US special forces, be fast enough to stop this next attack? Read this book to find out.

The Date Farm is the fourth book in the Lara and Uri series by Jack Winnick. The book features crime, investigation, thrillers, action, bravery, love, and teamwork. Lara and Uri continue to remain enviable characters. I love that they are able to maintain romance and still work professionally. Through some characters, we gain insight into the life of an FBI agent, which involves getting called up at any time and anywhere and going on dangerous missions. The author wrote the book from different POVs, allowing us to understand the minds of friends and foes properly. Personally, I really wanted to understand Iran’s reason for the attacks and hate.

I love that Jack Winnick uses this series to expose the political happenings in the United States. He also showcases the diplomatic ties between the USA and Israel and the continuous efforts of special personnel to ensure a secure state for all. It is a political thriller that reflects how terrorists from the Middle East have risen to occupy prominent governmental positions. One cannot then blame a country that is very particular about immigrants.

One thing I don’t like is that I was expecting the book to contain more drama and a higher level of crisis and twists—a failed operation or a major accident, for instance. However, this is purely subjective, and it’s not enough to remove a star from this book’s rating. It is also exceptionally well edited, as I found no errors while reading. I rate this book five out of five stars.

I recommend this book to lovers of crime and investigation thrillers. Lovers of historical events can also read it.
