[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Unholy Communion" by Thomas Rumreich.]

An anonymous person embarks on a mission to confront and punish priests who have committed horrific crimes against young boys. The person forces them to take a "special communion" and ultimately kills them as a form of justice. Then he leaves behind a mysterious message in Latin. When the first priest is killed, Deputy Ron arrives and secures the scene, waiting for Investigator Chris, who assesses the gruesome crime scene. Chris finds disturbing details and communicates with the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for further assistance. Meanwhile, that anonymous person continues his crusade, targeting more priests. Chris and Phil, another investigator, see a clear pattern in the crimes, but the big mystery is how they can catch the clever perpetrator before more priests are hurt.
 
Unholy Communion by Thomas Rumreich is a book that dives deep into the disturbing side of the Catholic Church. The story revolves around themes like justice, revenge, and the complex nature of getting even. The novel also explores the psychological impact on its characters. The book is clear about what happens when institutions fail. Rumreich challenges readers to think about tough questions regarding justice and morality, making this a book that stays with you long after you’ve finished reading.
 
There is nothing I didn’t like about the book. Rumreich presents a thorough picture of the investigation with lots of suspense and surprising turns. Mysterious things that link the murders give a sinister twist, implying that the anonymous person's job isn't finished yet. The pressure on the investigators rises as additional bodies are discovered, and they must deal with a clever killer who always seems to be one step ahead. 
 
Chris is my favorite character in the book because he had a balanced family life that stood out amid all the chaos he dealt with at work. While investigating such a disturbing case, he still managed to keep his personal life intact. Another thing Chris did that moved me was his concern for Brodie, a dog he didn’t want to be euthanized.
 
The book is perfectly well-edited. I rate it 5 out of 5 stars. The book blurs the lines between right and wrong, forcing readers to think about the consequences of taking justice into one's own hands. This moral complexity adds a layer of intrigue and keeps you questioning the characters’ actions. I recommend the book to fans of mystery books and dark, thought-provoking themes.
