"Devil’s Retribution" by Chris Thomasson is a supernatural thriller with themes of dark fantasy and romance. It explores the battle between light and darkness. It tells the story of Jack, who led a wayward lifestyle in the past and was trained by the high priest for a crucial mission involving Lucifer. Following the death of his grandparents, he became a successful real estate agent and formed an alliance with Lucifer, but his life takes a dramatic turn after he infuriates Lucifer, causing Lucifer to strip him of his treasured belongings. Will he be able to reconcile with his past and overcome Lucifer, or will darkness prevail?

I was impressed with how Chris developed the plot sufficiently. The incident involving Jack and Lucifer got me wondering what was to come. Chris ensured that he provided answers to my questions. His storytelling technique was engaging because he started with the middle of the entire event, then seamlessly introduced the beginning of how everything started, before coming to the turnout of events. I enjoyed the dark fantasy displayed in this book. This book turned out to be informative. Chris created his own world, and he maintained consistency throughout. While doing this, he ensured to make the writing style clear and concise. I admired the idea of creating a portal with vials of holy water and also creating a protective wall of holy water.

Although the story maintained a consistent pace at the beginning, it slowed down at some point. The repetition of an entire scene near the end felt redundant to me, and I felt the author would have created a more seamless connection between the scenes without the repetition.

I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars because, although I appreciated its amazing plot building, character development, and morals, the issue with the pace and redundant scenes affected my enjoyment of this book.
