Review of The Adventures Of Fashion Girl
Roby Graham’s The Adventures of Fashion Girl is a set of five fictional stories about a superhero in Colognia, California. Daphne Elizabeth Blake is the famous "Fashion Girl." She funds her crime-fighting endeavors through her international modeling career. She also has several assistants who are called “Style Chicks," who also have special abilities. Fashion Girl also has outside allies with the “Phat Kats” and “Cosmo Chicks.” The first book opens with Batman asking Fashion Girl to assist him with capturing Joker. Joker has joined forces with Fashion Girl’s nemesis, Prom Queen. The villainous duo’s command center to take over the world’s oil supply is in Prom Queen’s lair. Fashion Girl's combat skills seize control of the entire operation, while Batman observes from the sidelines. The foundation for Fashion Girl’s saga is set in the story.
Book two, “The Matter of the Ice Cold Case," features Chanel, a Style Chick who is a vampire. Chanel's backstory traces to her life as a peasant woman in 1672. Her transformation into a vampire cursed to never have peace in life began her life of killing hundreds of people. Three hundred years later, Chanel is arrested for the past murders, and Fashion Girl is placed on the stand to prove that Chanel is an upstanding citizen. In the next book, Style Chick Wanted, Fashion Girl recruits her sister-in-law to become a Style Girl member. The next book, “The Lost Children of Colognia," is a heartbreaking story of five girls, “The Chickettes,” living on the streets and a conspiracy to take down Fashion Girl. “The Rise of Aldorina” is about Fashion Girl’s internal fight between good and evil.
The Adventures of Fashion Girl is a unique story about people with superhero powers. I found the third and fourth books to be my favorites in the book. They made the individual character's emotions relatable. The multiple events in “The Lost Children of Colognia” had realistic features that addressed abandonment, betrayal, heartbreak, love, and acceptance. Fashion Girl’s actions after losing people close to her were understandable, and I envision her pain. Vivid details were involved with the Style Chicks, and Graham gave specific biographies to each one at the beginning of the book. Learning their personal stories before reading the story added a depth that would have been lacking otherwise.
I recommend a second round of editing for The Adventures of Fashion Girl to enhance its quality. Over ten errors were found throughout the entirety of the five editions. A second improvement was how convenient coincidences removed any potential twists in the plot, making it predictable. For example, this happens in the first story, in which Batman appears. Fashion Girl’s non-lethal weapons matched other superhero abilities. For example, she had a rifle that shot out net grenades that pinned her adversaries to the wall like Spider-Man’s wrist webs.
I rate The Adventures of Fashion Girl three out of five stars. Introducing unexpected plot twists and thorough editing would improve the potential enjoyment and engagement with the book. The superhero personas of the Style Chicks and Cosmo Chicks were somewhat humorous. Godiva, Tiffany, and Sephora department stores that the Style Chicks use for names. Revlon, Maybelline, and L'Oreal are all makeup brands used as names by the Cosmo Chicks.
Fans of flash fiction and short stories would enjoy The Adventures of Fashion Girl. However, some of the graphic depictions of child prostitution, profanity, and explicit scenes could offend some people. This book would be better suited to open-minded, mature readers.

That's hilarious. I might be more into superheroes if they all had fashion names. What a unique book! Your openness to read so many different genres never ceases to amaze me.
