‘Chain of Evidence’ by Charles LeVoile is an impressive crime novel that goes beyond the usual mystery. It’s an intriguing story about the investigation of a judge's shocking murder, which seems simple at first but soon reveals many hidden layers. The author skillfully adds psychological depth and moral questions, making this book more than just a typical mystery.

The story begins with the murder of a respected judge who has been nominated for the Supreme Court by the president. The mysterious shooting of the judge occurs at Coral Island Resort, a location that contradicts his principles. Deputy U.S. Marshals Marlon Grimes and Jana Berry are assigned to the case. As they dig deeper, they uncover a complex web of secrets and betrayals, with surprising motives and many possible suspects.

One of the book’s strengths is its well-developed characters. Marlon Grimes is both strong and vulnerable, making him relatable, while Jana Berry’s courage and resilience complement their partnership. Their shared dedication to justice is inspiring, and the evolving relationship between them adds depth to the story.

Beyond the murder mystery, ‘Chain of Evidence’ explores themes like trust, moral integrity, and justice. The author uses the investigation to ask deeper questions: What drives a person to commit violence? How far will people go to protect their beliefs, even at the cost of their conscience? Through the story, the author encourages readers to reflect on religious beliefs, showing how they can both help and harm.

The writing is clear and fits the book’s tense, serious tone. The descriptions create a vivid setting and add suspense to every scene. The pacing is excellent, balancing intense action with slower moments that provide space for reflection. Clues are revealed gradually, helping readers follow the mystery, and the ending offers a satisfying twist.

‘Chain of Evidence’ is a captivating and thought-provoking crime novel that will engage fans of the genre. It blends entertainment with reflections on human strength and deception. While it features Christian themes, it’s accessible to readers of all backgrounds, though the mature content and language make it best suited for adults.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book and found it to be well-written overall. Although there were a few minor errors that could benefit from an additional round of editing, they didn’t lessen my enjoyment. I would give it 4 out of 5 stars, with a small deduction only for those errors, as I had no other criticisms of the book.

Working in the legal system makes someone an enemy of most people especially when one stands for justice.
I'm sure this is the case with the Judge in "Chains of Evidence" with the Judge' enemies trying to cover up their evil doings.
I believe the book will be a great one to read as stated by the reviewer.
I'll have to read the book to know how it all ended.
Thanks for the review.
