Having recently resigned from being the city's chief inspector at the Vancouver Police Force, Ed has now become a private detective. But things are not so great, and there are hardly any cases worth mentioning. But when the death of the famous Alexia Morrison takes place, Ed is hired by a private client to investigate the cause of death, who believes that she was murdered and that her death was not an accident. Ed must unravel mysteries upon mysteries and get the help of his informant, Jerry Pavloff, to save an innocent from going to jail and catch the real culprit behind the murder that has taken place. Join Edwin Steelside on thrilling adventures to uncover the truth so that justice prevails.

Edwin Steelside Searching out the Devil, written by Bradford Bennett, is an amazing, adventurous thriller. The book consists of four stories, each surrounding the main character known as Edwin Steelside and his informant, Jerry Pavloff, whom Ed refers to as Dog. In each of these stories, these two characters work hand in hand to solve some of the biggest crimes they have ever seen. The book begins with the first case, which is the death of a famous actor, and then proceeds with the next being the murder of a famous person. It then follows through with the mysterious case of a plane crash and, lastly, the case of a serial killer on the loose.

Each story written is extremely captivating and thoroughly detailed. I did, however, find myself completely engulfed in the last case, whereby Ed has to solve the case of a serial killer with only a single clue. In my opinion, it was the best case of the four that he worked on.

Although I enjoyed the book from beginning to end, I did encounter a few errors, but it did nothing to hinder the need to know more about how each case ended. With that in mind, I rate this book a 5 out of 5.

The book is an extremely thrilling novel to read and contains murder, mystery, profanity, and a bit of romance as well. It is highly recommended to those readers who enjoy reading a fantastic, adventurous, and mysterious thriller.
