Veterans Day: A Mary Jane Morris Mystery by J.J. Jorgens is , as the name implies,a mystery novel, which follows the investigation of Mary Jane Morris into her former partner's death. The main character is a cynical detective , striving for justice , with few close friends who are always willing to support her despite the danger it often puts them in.

The book starts with the alleged suicide of Mary Jane's former partner but quickly reveals a plot to steal millions of dollars from America's war veterans.Mary Jane and her friends, veterans amongst them, race against time and corrupt officers of the law, to stop it.

What I like most is the way the novel is written .It conveys very real problems in a witty and humorous way, making the reader think without being too heavy.

The characterization is also superb. There are plenty of characters, with their own distinct personalities who help the main character throughout the investigation , while remaining their own , separate people , with their own lives and problems, not revolving Mary Jane's work. You could imagine meeting these people on the streets , having actual conversations with them .At the same time there isn’t anyone who showed up in the narrative without a reason to be there. All characters, and even objects , help move the story along.I especially liked the cop , who while antagonistic and cold , is the only official to really help Mary Jane through the entire investigation.

At some parts of the novel I thought there could be more action and dialogue worked in.A lot of events were just narrated as having already happened, and I would have liked to read them through the action.

I give the book 4 out of 4 for the entertaining and thought-provoking storyline. There everything needed for an amazing thriller-fast-paced action , murder attempts , espionage and truly exceptional characters. If there are any spelling or grammatical mistakes , they weren’t enough to interrupt the flow of the story.

I would recommend this book to anyone interested in the genre. There are not any major drawbacks .My only criticism is that it could be expanded a bit more to include some of the events happening behind the scenes.
Veterans day:A Mary Jane Morris Mystery is a very light and easy to read novel , filled with deep meaning .It is not a combination easy to find , or accomplish but J. J. Jorgens does it marvelously.
