Pancake Money by Finn Bell is an investigative thriller that will keep you at the edge of your seat from beginning to end. Finn Bell being a new author for me did not disappoint with this fantastic thriller.

The story is from the perspective of a detective, Bobby, who closely works with his partner Pollo. Bobby is a family man who loves his wife and daughter very much. However, being a great detective mostly keeps him away from his family, and he faces risky situations daily. It gets worse when there are multiple murders back-to-back that are somehow related and are done similarly. He needs to find the murderer as soon as possible to stop more gruesome deaths. And what is the motive for the murders? That is the premise of the story.

The best part of the book for me was the author taking the time to establish the characters and their relationship with each other. Finn Bell does that beautifully in this book, and it makes me want to learn more about their story. The two sides of the main character – a detective and a family man, are very well painted to the readers. I loved the relationship between Pollo and Bobby. Every character introduction was done very well to give the readers a good understanding of them and not make them plain uninteresting pawns in the story. The surprising twists and secret revealing add more beauty to this investigative thriller that will satiate the hunger of a true crime thriller reader.

The book contains details of gruesome murders, details of abuse, suicide, sexual abuse, and use of profane language. So, reader discretion is advised. There is nothing I dislike about the book, as this was a real page-turner for me.

The editing work is very good as I did not find many mistakes. This book is suitable for adult readers who love crime investigation thrillers. Pancake Money by Finn Bell deserves a rating of five out of five
