The Seven Deaths Of Evelyn Hardcastle

Post by Helen_Combe »

Has anybody else read The Seven Deaths Of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton? I’ve just finished it for the second time. It’s about a man trying to solve a murder, he lives one day which is repeated 8 times and he’s in a different person’s body each day.

It’s the most spectacularly complex plotting I’ve ever come across. I had to read it a second time to get my head round it. I’m in awe.

I've read it, but the book was nowhere as good as I was lead to believe by the title. I had high hopes for my readthrough. The reviews were really good at the time that I read them, so I was looking forward to it. I was very disappointed. It was honestly at a point where I do not even remember what happened. I found myself checked out and just going through the motions. I give it two stars instead of just one star because it did hold me until halfway. After that, I was just going through the motions of reading until I reached the end. Unfortunately, it was not until I reached the end of the book that I realize I had no idea what happened, and I have no idea how things were concluded.
I really believe that if things had gotten more interesting, I would have been a whole lot less checked out when reading. It has happened when reading a not-so-good book before and did not happen with this book.

I was deceived by the name of the book because I love such names but I can give it three stars because it kept me busy
