Final Chapter of the Mysterious Guardians (Mysterious Secret Guardians Book 3) by Dorothy McCoy is a brilliant fantasy blended with historical fiction, clean romance, psychological thriller, sci-fi, and paranormal mystery.

Bones Wyndott is a psychiatrist recruited by the team of Mysterious Guardians led by the ghost of Sir Winston Churchill to rescue the world from the Doomsday Machine created by the Nazi scientists during World War II and detonated by a demon. The other Mysterious Guardians are a reformed demon and ghosts of Albert Einstein, MI5 agents, and Bones’s late dog. They have only 72 hours to defuse the Doomsday Machine before it destroys the world. But why did the Mysterious Guardians choose Bones, a living human, to join them on this unprecedented mission? And will they save the world?

This novel was my first encounter with the Mysterious Secret Guardians series, and I was very impressed by the research Dorothy had undertaken to write this novel. I think this enormous effort has paid off in the awesome quality of this book. I loved every moment of the Mysterious Guardians' world-saving mission. The suspense kept me turning the pages. Big Soph, the Great Dane, was the real show stealer. The humor was great. The revelation of Bones’ ancestry was a surprise. And the atmospheric ending made me wow! But most of all, I liked the leadership of Sir Winston Churchill, and I wished I were on his world-rescue team!

I loved everything and disliked nothing in this awesome fantasy. It had everything I would expect of a delightful fantasy read—superb intrigue, a suspenseful plot, memorable characters, and an unexpected ending. So, I happily rate it five out of five stars.

I highly recommend this story to fantasy fans. I did not come across anything prohibitive for junior readers, but this story calls for elementary awareness of World War II and the role of Sir Winston Churchill.

Using historical characters is tricky because the author needs to properly reproduce them, and in this series they're used in a time that's not their own. This seems to have been done well, making them an asset in this fantasy story. I'll look into this series. Thank you for your great review!
