Sherri L. Dodd's "Moonset on Desert Sands" is an enthralling fantasy novel about magic, family, betrayal, and absolute thirst for power, no matter the cost.

"Moonset on Desert", the second book in a three-book series, follows the story of Arista, a young witch with extraordinary powers, and her uncle Fergus, who would stop at nothing to get his hands on her and her powers. The book opens with captivating themes: the stolen athame, Dustin's initial betrayal, change of heart, and death, all within the first few pages, and this serves as a major pivot driving the story further.

One incredible strength of the book, as I mentioned earlier, was its captivating plots, capable of keeping readers glued from the first to the last. Another strength of the book was the author's descriptive vocabulary and eloquence, capable of painting vivid pictures, which makes turning the words of this story into pictures easy for readers. A perfect example of this is the author's description of the assault and accident that led to Dustin's death. The detailed plots and the author's ability to follow several minor stories and side characters while focusing on the major story are another impressive strength of the book. The book was also exceptionally well-edited, as I noticed no significant grammatical errors that could disrupt my reading experience within it.

If I had to mention a weakness of the book, I'd say some readers might find the number of characters and character names a bit too much and difficult to follow. Aside from the earlier mentioned point, I had no other issues with the book.

I'd rate Sherri L. Dodd's "Moonset on Desert Sands" 5 out of 5 stars for its excellent editing, captivating story, and detailed description. My minor dislike was not enough reason to deduct a star from my rating. I'd recommend the book to readers who enjoy fantasy and supernatural books.
