Bad Boys, Bad Boys: What Does a Lawyer Do?! is a humorous and informational book by Robert L. Wegman. His book is divided into two parts. The first part involves stories from his time as a defense attorney. Each chapter instills a piece of advice and is given an example of how the advice could affect a case. The insights about human nature were valuable. He explains how snap decisions will cause life-altering consequences for people who are generally reasonable with their choices. Wegman shows human behavior is based on uncontrollable factors that include the environment, circumstances, mental health, and personal history.

The second part of the book, “Interesting Stories Curious Minds Want to Know,” contains his perspective on controversial topics that anyone can relate to. Climate change, music, Covid-19 and the vaccine, and the little annoyances of daily life are some topics he offers his view on. He includes specific examples to show why his opinion makes sense. These common-sense explanations even explore the power of words. He shows that the rhyme “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me” is wrong.

Bad Boys, Bad Boys: What’s a Lawyer Do?! is a creative novel that captivated me. Wegman’s delivery of serious information in a light-hearted manner made the book easy to read. As a defense attorney, sometimes Wegman had to be creative to make sure his clients were not sent to jail. For example, sometimes the best defense is no defense. Keep in mind the prosecution must prove their charges are correct. If they don’t eliminate reasonable doubt, not offering additional information may set you free.

This book could use some editing, as I found a paragraph was repeated in his view of climate change. Removing one paragraph would improve the chapter. I also noticed a few punctuation issues where a period or quotation mark was missing.

I am rating this intriguing comedy four out of five stars. Another round of editing would make the book perfect. I found nothing I disliked about Wegman’s stories. The vivid details made it easy to envision the story and were part of the humor. For instance, Wegman uses two country music artists to illustrate how music can teach a lesson. Carrie Underwood’s "When He Cheats" and Miranda Lambert’s "Kerosene" are songs about what they would do if they caught their boyfriend cheating. His moral of the story was funny and good advice: “When dating a country music star, stay faithful or invest heavily in automotive insurance and fire suppression systems.”

Young adults interested in how a criminal defense attorney handles abnormal human nature will enjoy Bad Boys, Bad Boys: What’s A Lawyer Do?! Readers who enjoy discussing topics like climate change, the Covid-19 vaccine, social media, and government cover-ups will learn facts that are not covered in school or the media. This is a book that is self-reflective while teaching that some situations could always use a laugh.

A book that found a way to weave humor into something as severe as charges and the possibility of going to jail? Now that sounds like something truly worth my while.

Very humorous book indeed and also a warning to girls who are dating these city boys, how they should handle them.

It sounds like an interesting book to read in high school, maybe in a social science class. Students should learn about these topics at that age, understanding how things work related to politics, laws, courts, or the job of a lawyer itself.

When I was younger, I was always interested in the bad boys. This seems like a humorous and good book to read on the lighter side of things.

That is one dumb rhyme. Psychological damage is real and can even be more long-lasting than physical one. I'm glad the author acknowledges this.

That's clever!

You used a fantastic quote to show the narrative tone of the book!

Those topics, while meaningful, can be exhausting for someone like me who is already worried about them. But I think young(er) people (or less anxious ones) would definitely benefit from a book like this.

Fantastic review, my friend!

The government cover-up was very disturbing for me. It was about how the government treated the military after World War 1.
However, I did find the other topics were hilarious. Like climate change has been blamed on methane gas. He wants to know how cow farts could really affect the climate. He said if that is true then people should give a "hoot before they toot."

This sounds like a refreshingly honest and entertaining take on the legal world and society at large. I love when authors can blend humor with insight, especially on serious topics. The bit about dating country music stars made me laugh—definitely a creative way to make a point! It’s great to hear that the book balances legal advice, real-world examples, and broader societal reflections. I’ll keep an eye out for this one.

Sometimes, humor is the best tool to address very serious issues. It seems like Robert L Wegman thiks like that as well in this book that in part covers his experience as a defense attorney and in part offers reflections and insights that include humor. Thank you for your great review!
