Eric Prescott is a distinguished scientist who is working on winning the Nobel Prize. His research focuses on finding a cure for Alzheimer’s disease, although he hasn’t discovered it yet, he has come up with a method to test its chemical compounds. He’s very eager on getting the Nobel Prize and whatever happens, no one can stop him.
Pamela Weller is a Junior Faculty member of Langmere Institute of Neurological Disease. She had been hoping to achieve tenure at Langmere. She had been working on finding a cure to Alzheimer’s for over four years and found her own way to test its chemical compounds faster than Eric Prescott. However, Pamela Weller is only genuinely interested in finding the cure and being tenured, fame and fortune is not part of her dream.
In the battle of finding out the cure for Alzheimer’s, who will prevail? The ambitious one? or the just and righteous? Find out in The Prize by Geoffrey M. Cooper.
The Prize lived up to its genre, Crime/Thriller/Mystery/ Horror. These genres encompass different writing styles and I must say the author did a great job of incorporating each genre into one novel. The novel is really good that you can’t get enough of reading it and would definitely finish it in one sitting. You’ll get the urge of finding out what would happen next with the story. The characters are carefully and realistically created by the author that you can feel what they are feeling and have great characters makes the story more interesting.
The mystery of the story is not about finding the cure but in figuring out whether when justice would be served, this makes the book more interesting to read. The book depicts a real-life situation that can happen anywhere and to anyone. This shows us that fame and fortune are triggering factors on becoming corrupt and people can go beyond their way in order to get recognition.
I rate The Prize by Geoffrey M. Cooper a 4 out of 4 stars. The book is relatable as the situations may also happen in real life. I really liked how the main characters are made, for instance, Eric Prescott is really ambitious to the point that he’ll do anything to get what he wants and his character is really annoying and I really felt irritated that I wanted to choke him myself. The plot is not boring and you would totally want to read more of it. Overall, the book is a great read and I would definitely recommend it to people who love reading Crime/Mystery/Thriller novels.
