Final Notice by Van Fleisher asks the question: When technology becomes advanced enough to tell you your time is up, what will you do? Will you put your affairs in order or settle some old grudges?

Vijay Patel of VitalTech has invented a new fitness watch called the VitalTech 2 that can give its wearer a time of death within a 10 day time frame thus their Final Notice. The story has us following Vince and Trudi Fuller as they begin to notice an alarming amount of mass killings. While they are uncertain of the reason for the killings they are certain it has something to do with the NRA's campaign to put more and more firearms in the hands of senior citizens. Being senior citizens themselves they begin to wonder if they need a firearm for safety. Along with the NRA push, Vince and Trudi become convinced that they need a firearm when some local crime affects them personally. Vince and Trudi's paths will take them from gun owners to VitalTech 2 users and their morality will be tested.

This book deals with real life issues. Issues such as the NRA, ever evolving technology and the reliance on it, political rifts and racial issues. The book takes you through the lives of the rich, the not so rich, the down and out, the ordinary citizen and even throws in a politician and the choices they make when they know they only have 10 days left to live. Some VitalTech 2 participants settle old scores while others settle their affairs. The book also takes you through the dilemmas VitalTech faces, such as legal issues raised with reactions to the watch and the ethical issues a company faces when giving people an end of life notice. The book makes you think about the choices you make and the what if's. It also makes you wonder how far technology will go in the future and has you questioning how reliable it will be.

This book had me rooting for Vince and Trudi to have a happy ending and I was emotional at the thought that they would not make "the right" choices with the power the VitalTech 2 watch gave them. What I liked about the book was it was easy to read and I did not want to put it down. The only negative thing I can say is that the politician was all to familiar and I actually rolled my eyes at his name. That being said I would recommend the book with the warning that it is all too familiar with the political climate right now, so it might invoke some feelings when read.

I am giving this book 4 out of 4 stars.I would recommend this book.
