Final Notice by Van Fleisher is a lifelike novel about a new smartwatch, the VT2, that monitors and analyzes a persons blood, vitals, and other complex health issues. The new VT2 also notifies your doctor of the readings, but the biggest surprise of all is this new technological gadget can predict your death. Due to this unique advantage, some of the watch owners have decided to resort to murder after their notification. Now the creators of the VT2 along with the FBI are wondering if this device is a liability or a blessing. Would you purchase the VT2 for the health benefits or just to ensure you get your final revenge before you perish?

First, I want to congratulate the author for creating this work of art, it stole my attention from the beginning and kept it captured until the end. One of my favorite things was how the story made my brain work overtime by constantly throwing controversial situations at me. Merging true current events and a fictional NRA senior gun discount with VT2 was the perfect recipe for disaster and chaos.

The reality of having access to something like the VT2 is a bit overwhelming. With technology changing the way we live, work and learn it’s not far-fetched to think that a device like this could actually be an option in the near future. The idea of owning a VT2 device is not appealing to me for the Final Notice feature, but for the health aspect. I have no clue how I would respond to getting a notification of my upcoming death. My best guess would be I would get my affairs in order and live the last of my days with my family and friends. Although, after reading this story it goes to show that certain circumstances can change a person’s way of thinking.

I really enjoyed the characters in this book and the way the author developed them and their views throughout the story. For example, Vince and Trudi were against gun use until something tragic happens to Vince, then their outlook starts to shift. Watching their progress and the way it changed their life was very interesting to me. The only thing that I disliked about the book was it started a bit slow but once it picked up it was a force to be reckoned with.

I would rate Final Notice 4 out of 4 stars, it had all of the right elements to keep me interested and captivated the whole time and had no noticeable grammatical errors. This book would be an ideal read for adults who love politics, murder, and medical thrillers. This story will definitely give your brain some overdue thinking time.
