The Hand of God is a fictional novel by John Isaac Jones. It is a crime, thriller, and mystery novel. The book contains violence and graphic scenes. Therefore, it is not meant for children and young adult. I recommend this book to lovers of a good fictional novel with action and numerous lessons. The book touches crime, law, murder, revenge, religion, love and lot more.
Bobby Lincoln is a twenty-four-year-old living with his common-law wife Idella Lincoln. He is a fisherman and also works at a sugar mill in Palm Harbor. Things are not working well for him now as he is low on cash and even food supply. Idella is not pleased with the situation as they struggle and live from hand-to-mouth daily.
Bobby on a faithful day went out to work for a long time friend, Lucky Holzafel. Lucky informed Bobby of a big job coming up, which will upgrade his financial status greatly. With this job, Bobby will be able to solve his financial crisis and his wife will stop nagging. This is a job that will affect his financial status but will also go against his mother’s teaching about moral right. This job eventually changed his life beyond his imagination. Now, Bobby is fighting to survive as the monster within wants to come out, and he is also been hunted. What is the job? How did the job change his life? What will become of Bobby? Who or what is hunting Bobby? All this will be answered with a read.
I wish I could give more summary, but giving details will lead to revealing spoilers. This book contains numerous lessons which readers will get to gain from. The book offers lessons on moral right, the conscience of a person, baptism, power of confession, wealth in reading, racism, and lot more.
The author did a good job with the storyline as it is enjoyable. The storyline covers so many aspects as the author did justice to the descriptive aspect of the book. I love this aspect of it. The author rightly described the mill operation in the production of sugar as he involves the characters in the process.
There were so many things I enjoyed in this book. I enjoyed reading Bobby’s negotiation with the DA. He claimed his respect and got himself a better deal that no one would have deemed possible for a black. I also enjoyed reading Clifford’s character. His role is quite minute, but he is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. He stood by Bobby all through his problem.
This book was professionally edited. I found no flaws in It. Therefore, I rate The Hand of God 4 out of 4 stars.
