Cold Serial: The Jack the Strangler Murders by Brian E. Forschner is, as the title announces, a book written about a serial killing that took place in the big city of Dayton, Ohio between the years of 1900 and 1910. The story is written in third person, the author himself tell the summary of events that he himself investigated, when he realized his link to the crimes. The author guides you through the events that happened to different young ladies from a certain point in their lives to the chaos left by their deaths.

How the author managed to craft the book is the most I like of it. He really managed to transport me to a time where carriages were used as the main transportation vehicle and communication was not nearly as fast as it is today. His narration of the events gave a clear point of view on each girl and their families afterwards.
The most outstanding I can remark is his ability to put me in the place of every character mentioned in the book, is how he made me suffer their pain, their sadness, their loss, their helplessness, their fury on and with each one of them. The dialect of those times really on point in the whole book and how at some point the ineptitude of some characters dealing with the cases made me want to get inside the story and give them a piece of my mind.

The progress of the story was constant in almost all the book, grabbing my attention since page one but there was at some point in the story that I felt repetitive and repetitive.
As the author I understand, he made a thorough investigation of each case and every detail was needed for him to tell a story of this kind so it’s really not bad just what I felt at that moment, which drained me with all the emotions portrayed in the book but to me, that means it was really excellent written!

In my taste, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because the story really didn’t disappoint me in the least, the way the author narrated it from the start to the end, how the characters were portrayed simply it was a delight to read such a good book.

I highly recommend it to readers that have a taste for the horror-crime-mystery-thriller gender with its bits of history and loves the roller coaster of emotions that this gender provides. It really gives you a taste at how the personality and character of the people of that time was.
I don’t recommend it to the people this is highly sensitive and who are easily impressed, children and of course the ones that really don’t like this gender because even though the language is not as crude but the description of the scenes are really crude and vivid.

The way how is written and edited, one can note the author and the editor really put a lot of effort to give a really well put story, I could hardly notice any typos.
