Hi Everyone, thank you for allowing me to join. I am an avid reader who can't put them down once I start them. I need some help though. I absolutely fell in love with the Lisa Gardner FBI Series, really all her books. I am trying to find another author who compares. I started reading Karin Slaughter and have gone through all of her books as well. Anybody have any advice who I try next? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
NB

I would suggest books by Tess Gerritsen, including the Rizzoli and Isles books, but not just those. I really enjoyed Bloodstream and Life Support as well.

I'm quite enjoying Linda Castillo's series featuring Kate Burkholder - there are only three books so far but they are all pretty good - the latest one especially.

Chelsea Cain. Not exactly similar to Gardner but very good. Karin Slaughter is good too, except that she gets everything wrong about any firearm she writes about.

Patricia Cornwell. She writes the Kay Scarpetta book series. She has won several book awards. Loved Black Notice, but that is 1/2way through the series and you really should read them in order.

These aren't all authors with series' but they are good authors. Sharon Sala, Kay Hooper, Heather Graham, A.K. Alexander (Got to read "Daddy's Home"), Debora Webb, and I agree with the Tess Gerritson recommendation. I have other authors a well, but these are a few of my favorites.

The Kay Scarpetta series is awesome, especially her early books, All That Remains, and From Potters Field. I recently finished one of her newer books Port Mortuary, but it for some reason did not have the zing of her earlier works.

I agree. Her earlier books were the best.

Dear nbarrera, could you, please, dwell on your impression on FBI Series? Why do you love it? What struck you most? Which features of the novels would you mark?

Tana French, I think the first book is Into the Woods.

I recently read T.R. Ragan's Lizzie Gardner series (there is only 2 in the series so far Abducted and Dead Weight) and I enjoyed them. Also J.T. Ellison has quickly become a favorite of mine with her Taylor Jackson series.

I really have wanted to start a line of books like this. I love mystery/thrillers. This post makes me want to try them even more! Lol

Patricia Cornwell was great to start with but then she sort of fizzled by about 2004... Her books just lacked something then. What about JD Robb.. its a little different but her books are cool... James Patterson is also excellent ... Try his Alex Cross books.

I'd try karin slaughter if I were you. They're quite similar in style to Lisa Gardner and the main female characters are just as strong. The characters develop over the books really well and i think they are books you can become really invested in.

Tami Hoag's earlier novels are pretty good.
