The Broadcast by Liam Fialkov is a mystery thriller. It covers multiple perspectives as the book progresses. What makes it so interesting you ask? Well, it shows broadcasts of unsolved police cases and important points in history. Each of the characters is impacted in some way, but a lot of them are unsuspected.

Sarah is one of the main characters to be impacted. As a teen, she was taken advantage of, which resulted in a pregnancy. She was forced to give up her newborn for adoption. Years later she believes that she will be reunited with her son, is it due to the show or is it divine intervention? Only time will tell.

There are many characters covered. We have the couple, Jonathan and Sarah, Michael, Stewart McPherson, Howard Hensley, and Walter Lindsey. All of these personae are integral to the plot. Secondary roles are involved, but these are primarily important in moving the story forward.

Scene changes are done in a way that makes things easy to follow. Between the chapters that focus on the people, there is a focus on what is being covered in the show, The Broadcast. Each part is explained very well, and the use of the recordings gives a lot more insight into integral parts of history and points that assist with the police cases.

This would most appeal to mystery and thriller fanatics. You keep on receiving new information and it gives opportunities in solving the main question of the book. If you wish to know who is making the show clips, then you must read to the end to find out for yourself. It's well done and the given explanation is enough to make you question your existence.

It is necessary to note that there are situations that will deter people from reading this. There are mentions of rape, infidelity, explorations of multiple religions, visions, sex and depictions of history that most might find inaccurate. These warnings are necessary, as they make the book geared to mature readers. Some of these may be hard to stomach, as they are done in a believable way.

As far as errors go, I see that there are only two minor errors. There was also an odd formatting choice for the epilogue since the entire section is in bold text. Since these issues didn't impede my ability to read this, I see no reason to remove any stars. With that, The Broadcast receives 4 out of 4 stars from me.
