Ron, I believe, turned to gambling because he was unable to continue his education. He is intelligent, but because no one pushed or supported him to continue his studies, he turned to gambling instead.

I think it's a mixture of both because I do believe in some way, those two can be connected. He loved gambling as well as maths, these were important subjects of life to him.

I can’t conclusively agree. I think they go both ways. They both complement each.

Both, in my opinion. Because he was unable to continue with college, Ron turned to gambling. He is intelligent, but when he had the chance to go to college, he returned to math because no one encouraged and supported him to continue his studies.

I will attribute his success to both gambling and math as both skills does help build up intelligence quota and wittiness. Ron was good with both and they contributed to his success in life even though he was more of a failure in life's outlook. The women in his life tried to help him make meaning of his existence.

I would say that his gambling habit contributed to his success due to the fact that he wasn't afraid to take risks in his business.

I would say it’s his love for gambling. Ron loves maths but you can’t deny the fact that his love for Gambling superseded as he was addicted to it.

I think gambling was simply a way to make ends meet. When Ron found something better to occupy his time, he gave up gambling. In fact, he says he can only focus on one thing at a time, and gambling when away fairly quickly in the story.

Despite his lack of interest in school, primarily due to his impoverished background and a greater focus on making money, he ultimately realized his academic potential through Regina's persuasion to attend school rather than engaging in gambling. Once enrolled, he discovered his aptitude for mathematics, drawing the attention of his professors.
