Colonel Aureliano was the most interesting character to me. I think his descent from capable and strong-minded to solitary and taciturn by the end of his life was was so tragic because it felt so realistic.
I really loved it and would recommend it to anyone who hasn't read any magical realism.

allowed to be seen by any woman and that cost him his life when a butcher
friend did him the favor of chopping it off with his cleaver. José Arcadio
Buendía, with the whimsy of his nineteen years, resolved the problem with a
single phrase: “I don’t care if I have piglets as long as they can talk.” So they
were married amidst a festival of fireworks and a brass band that went on for
three days.
who is they in the paragraph . its obviously not Jose Arcedio Bunenda becouz he is a male.
i don't understand . how does this works. i am reading novel for the first time and very confused by it . can someone give me tips ?

Has anyone else noticed this with Márquez? Am I missing the point somewhere?
