As an adult, I find this story and many other fairy tales to be quite alarming as to what is in the story. As a child, I never remember thinking this was a scary story, but as an adult, it is not the story that I would want to read to my grandchild

I concur that fairy tales are generally unsettling. If you truly listen to the stories, you will find that they are full of death and violence even though we are made to believe that they are stories of love and happily ever afters.

The original fairy tales were meant to scare children into behaving. Over time, they've transitioned into more happily-ever-after types.

This is my favourite fairy tale book. I have both read the book and seen the movie.

The story is so scary and I don't think it is recommended for little children because of their mindset.
