I find it hard to get into classics, but I read this in my senior English class, and my teacher had an amazing way of going through every chapter bit by bit and making sure we understood everything. It allowed me to relax and just enjoy the story without worrying about not understanding the 19th century language. This book has become a yearly re-read for me, and of course I love the 2005 movie adaptation!

I really enjoyed reading this book! It should definitely be on more websites so that more people can read it.

I’ve never read this book but I have heard the title a lot through the years. Does it read like Shakespeare with jumbled words or is it an easy-flowing read? Thanks in advance to anyone who answers.

Good luck with your reading! This is the first book I ever read by Jane Austen and I must say it was a wonderful introduction to her writing. It is one of my favorite books I have ever read, not just by her but any author, and I could see wanting to read it again in a few years. The main character, Elizabeth, is one of my favorite characters by far. She is relatable, kind and smart, but by no means perfect.

Yes, I agree with your comments. If push came to shove, I'd say I'm a Brontë sisters fan. Perhaps because they are more down-to-earth and more believable for me than Austen's characters.

My friend always compare this book to most of his favorite classics. I always disagree with him. Pride and Prejudice is my favorite over the years.

I just read this back in December!! I thoroughly enjoyed it, it’s clearly a classic for a reason. I thought it was really interesting to see things within it that I bet were groundbreaking at the time, but are common or standard in todays romance writing.

I started reading this book through Google Play for free but the formatting was so bad that I put it on the backburner. Finally got a Libby subscription and was able to read it through my library and finally finished it. There was a big learning curve as I'm not used to the writing style of that era, but once conquered I was enveloped in the beautiful world that Jane Austen meticulously crafts. The writing style is very detailed for a new reader like myself, laying the foundation as Austen leaves little room for interpretation. Minor things such as body language are expressed so explicitly and extrapolated so eloquently in future chapters that it brings into attention how rigid and suffocating high class society was back then. While the ultimate theme is that true love will trump any barrier, whether interpersonal or societal, it frames it in a way to show how that love is not found in the perfect appearance or etiquette but rather within the imperfections in one's character.

I never tire of talking about love and prejudice. Simply one of the cutest books ever. I'm not a big fan of the construction of the main character or the man everyone loves so much, however, I love talking about this book whenever I get the chance. Twisting your toes while reading a period romance is wonderful and few books have the star quality of Pride and Prejudice.
