I find that a problem with many Victorian novels.
Me too, yet each time I pick one up I expect to enjoy because it's a classic and then I don't, I preferred Frankenstein though.
I read Dracula this past Halloween. I had seen the movie before and was quite surprised with the differences. I enjoyed the characterization of the Vampire as something purely evil, without remorse. I find nowadays monsters tend to be overly romanticized and lack the original creativity and horror. However, I totally agree that the book was very tedious, and I also found it hard to get through. I understand setting the mood, but this was too much. I haven't actually read Frankenstein yet, so I am curious to see if it is better!

I watched many movies with Dracula, which I liked so much. I would like to buy the book too, I hope it won't be too difficult to read.

I had no idea Dracula was published as a book! I would love to read the original and compare it to modern advancements.

You should check out Carmilla by Sheridan Le Fanu. In many ways, it’s the predecessor to Dracula and vampire fiction in general.

Hi Everyone :)

I have read Dracula a couple of times. It really is a great example of Gothic Fiction in the 19th century. It also opened doors for me to read other gothic fiction novels of the era, and to see the themes and lore develop into this piece is a great experience.
