I liked the series, but my favorite of them was Ozma of Oz, it was also the trippiest with the whole sex change thing.

I loved reading this book as a child, and need to pick up a copy so that I can read it to my kids. I wish the rest of the series was as easy to find. I've been looking for several years for them, but they're so expensive!

I absolutely loved the movie growing up and had only ever read the first book.
I have found that I like to read re-tellings of Oz (my favorite is the Wicked series by Gregory Maguire), but had never read the originals other than the first one.
So this year I put the series on my to-read-in-2017 list and now I am on book number 4. These books are very enjoyable.

I actually had to read this book in college, in course where we had to compare it to Pilgrim's Progress. To my surprise, the story structure is very similar! I found this book to be much more interesting and profound than a typical children's book, if analyzed closely.

I love this book. I remember the first time watching the movie, I was so scared of the wicked witch that I ran down the stairs into my mother's lap. I think they did a good job making the book into a movie. It makes it more real.

I actually read this for the first time in a college literature course and thought it was SO cool. I definitely plan on reading it to my kids in the future.

I knew that there was at least one sequel to the original book, but I had no idea the series was so extensive! I wonder if the rest of the books continue the political/social commentary of the first book.

Dropped by to a bookstore this afternoon and thinking of what to share with my 6 year old daughter. There are only limited books offered there then I realized, yes it's digital age already, what are online shops doing, eh? Reading this thread is nostalgic. The feels of reading this and watching the adaptation when I was younger is nostalgic. I know what to buy now for my child

I grew up watching this movie every year and I know I read the book at some point, though I can't say the same for the sequels. I also love pretty much everything that has stemmed from the book, such as The Wiz and the Wicked series. I've also watched TWoO on Ice and In Concert. Still, there's nothing like the original.

When I was young, I really needed the morals, that (1) "There's no place like home" and (2) whatever you're looking for, you probably already have it, be it a home or a heart or a brain or courage or 'fill-in-the-blank'. Now I love it for the witch, *lol*...or should that be *evil cackle*

It's amazing how you can read a story or watch a movie as a child and see it from a child's perspective. Then you can read or watch it as an adult and see a lot of the symbolism of real life that you didn't catch when you were young. The Wizard of Oz is one of those stories. It's definitely a classic!

I loved this book! It was one of the first books I'd ever read. I had no idea there were 13 sequels to it, what a thrill that would have been for tiny-me. I'll try reading them now.

I have the complete 5 volume series. Before I got it I had no idea there was more than 1 story. I gave the first volume to my best friend's little girl (12) and she loves it. It's just such an amazing series!!!
