Someone Knows my Name

Post by mlcuwv2rd »

Has any one else read this book? It's by Lawrence Hill and was written in 2008. It's a terrific historical-fiction about the history of slavery in America. It begins in Africa where most slaves were kidnapped. It moves with the main character to the United States, continues through the Revolutionay war, and ends with the main character living in England, fighting for slavery of any kind to be made illegal. The story moves really well, the characters are well developed, it's interesting, educational and engaging. My favorite line in the book was "When it comes to understanding others, we rarely tax our imaginations." How true is that??!!
