Right? Kafka on the shore was such a bore.LinaMueller wrote: ↑14 Aug 2019, 05:56 All Kafka's books are overrated. He is the single most overrated writer of the twentieth century. Die Verwandlung is pretty average, IMHO.
An overhyped classic you really didn't like

Couldn't stand Lolita either, but I never actually finished it. Couldn't bear to read about Humbert Humbert. It made my skin crawl, and I never even made it to the really gross parts.

I had to read Wuthering Heights in high school and absolutely hated it. I agree, every character was despicable. Also, what was the point? Everyone is just pining and being cruel to one another, and it served no purpose. I pity anyone who has to read it.MellieBellie wrote: ↑30 Nov 2019, 06:44 It's a tie: "Wuthering Heights" (every single character is an asshole) and "Portrait of a Lady" (which I've read 3 or 4 times, hope springing eternally that THIS TIME it will be interesting, and I'm always wrong)
