In my opinion this is one of the best works of writer Frances Hodgson Burnett. Although it is considered a classic exemplary work of children's literature, it can be said that it is intended for adults, people who are busy with "big" lives but forget the "little" joy in the innocence of childhood.

I love this book! I read it first as one of the Great Illustrated Classics series aimed at younger children, then the unabridged version when I was older. Both are fantastic, although there have been times I became extremely frustrated with the boy. Based of the description, I was able to picture the entire setting, which make the story even more Magical.

I read this many times as a kid and I still have the book. My husband doesn't understand reading a book more than once but sometimes it's nice to relive those feelings. I still have quotes from the book that run through my head from time to time. One of my all-time favorites.

I read this story when I was very young and loved it, but I think I am have read a tempered down or shortened version for children. I know that Mary Shelley's Frankenstein has a younger audience version. Wondering if that's true for the secret garden? Anyone know?

As per the information available in the internet, during the year 2021, two versions of the story, adapted into graphic novels, were made available to the readers.
The first, released in the month of June, was - The Secret Garden: A Graphic Novel, with story by Mariah Marsden and illustrations by Hanna Luechtefeld.
The second version was produced in the month of October and in fact was a modern retelling by Ivy Noelle Weir and the title was - The Secret Garden on 81st street.

Oh yes! I loved it too. According to me, the main theme is the relationship between health and outlook. How Mary and her cousin starts going out of that depressing home to the garden makes them feel well and alive, I guess that was the main point of this book.

This is one of the classics that I did read. I read the classic and the children’s versions of the book. I'm pretty sure I saw the movie as well, perhaps more than one! I loved it, genuinely.
