I am not a vampire fan at all but the original Dracula by Bram Stoker is fantastic. It is the only vampire book or movie I have enjoyed. I did watch and enjoy Interview with a Vampire. That is as far as my interest goes for vampires though.

For me, the novel started out great. But the further I read, the slower it became and the more painful it was to continue. I actually banged my head on the table at one point out of frustrated boredom. There were definitely points of light throughout, great suspense, drama, and mystery, but they were few and far between. I was really glad when it was over, lol!

I eventually read the recent sequel (something written by Stoker's nephew or great-nephew, I think). As a novel, it was more interesting, better pace, etc, but I didn't like his interpretation of the original which was the basis for his book.

I recently read "Dracula" and think it's a good read - not outstanding but still really good.
the story has a kind of slow beginning and just when it gets interesting you are cut off and read about Mina, Lucy and their daily habits which was a bit of a shock to me for I thought the action was about to start
but from then on the story takes on pace and it was so much more and so different from what I believed Dracula to be that I barely could take a break from reading since I really wanted to know what would happen next.
I can only recommend reading it

I sure agree with you just because the book was too draining.

I'm going to read it, but what convinced me to read it was this joking review I found about the readers thoughts They described it as funny because the main character just keeps over looking all the evidence that Dracula is a vampire until its to late and I just really want this on Adult Swim.

Dracula is my all-time favorite book, though it does move quite slow. I believe that it is the greatest horror/romance/tragedy to be written. Bram Stoker did an amazing job making you feel sympathy for a monster (at least that's how I interpreted it). In the end, I personally felt great sadness for Dracula which I ultimately did not expect when I first started reading it.

From what i have heard is that Bram Stoker coined the name "Dracula" and its character.

I made the mistake of reading this book while in a reading slump, and really struggled to get through it. Despite that, I did enjoy it! I think I'll read it again sometime now that I've heard about all the things that went over my head...

This novel takes you through the brilliant mind and works of writer Bram Stroker. A pure genius to have created the deep and dark character Dracula

I don't think there is another novel that I've read more than Dracula. It's a personal favorite, and the first time that I read it, I was a youngster, having seen only the Lugosi version of the film. It may not be the most exciting novel. It may not be as blood-curdling as the Hammer films. It may be more of a Victorian mystery of manners than anything else. But talk about having legs. Just think of all the inspiration that stemmed from this one book, the number of films and plays, the countless short stories, and vampire novels galore. It will always remain a personal favorite.

I found the book fairly enjoyable in the classic gothic epistolary novel format. Reading in modern times, it can be hard to get through at times, seeming slow-paced or overloaded with environmental description, but overall it was a thrill to read from a horror perspective

Having seen the movie, I can readily imagine the storyline. I think it's a book I can easily relate to. I Will lay my hands on it any moment from now.

I like the epistolary nature and the form of diary entries of the book. I was skeptical about reading this book, but I couldn't put it down once I started. Loved it.
