Jane Austen Retellings

Hi, all,
I am working on a Jane Austen research project and wanted to get other readers' insights. Jane Austen is best known for 6 novels (Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Persuasion, Emma, Mansfield Park, and Northanger Abbey), many of which have been made into movies and have also been retold several times over. I am wondering:
What is your favorite Jane Austen retelling and why?
What is the most important part of a retelling?
What, for you, makes or breaks a retelling?
For me, my favorite spin on Emma is Clueless because I love how the film updated the story and kept all the relevant parts pf the novel. I think the important part of a retelling is to add something new or unique to the novel while still staying true to the original source.
I look forward to reading your responses.
