The deaths in the book happen as if it were a game of chess. In the film, on the contrary, the protagonist takes revenge in a violent way and without much reasoning.

The book is one of my favorites. I believe Dumas create this amazing story and make it interesting, to the point I couldn't keep the book down. I mostly enjoyed the revenge part of it all, when he succeeded. I watch the movie, and although I didn't hate it, I believe it wasn't nearly as good as the book. I think it's a book definitely worth reading.

I watched the movie as a child, but when I read the book, I couldn't help but appreciate this masterpiece the more.

The author painted a vivid picture. I could picture this book playing like a movie while reading it

This book is one of the Unforgettable artifacts of my life. The scenes in the prison are still in my mind, It was intriguing to read such an action-filled suspense story in prison. The funny thing was, I had even promised to myself to name my first kid Edmond! :D

I loved this book. I probably read it when I was a teen, and this thread is reminding me that I should read it again. I didn't realize there was a movie made about The Count of Monte Cristo, so I will add that to my "to watch" list.

Loved the book. Only read it when I was already an adult, maybe 35? Enjoyed his style thought the plot may have dragged a little in the middle ie plotting his revenge could be quite tedious, but overall the read was fantastic. Shame that more kids don't read this one.

Both the book and the film are fantastic. However, having seen the movie first, I was struck by how different the book's ending was.
