I believe that the author's conversational style and approach make it easier for readers to read the book. It will have a much greater impact than other self-help books because there is a wider range of options and, as you mentioned, the reader does not have to read the book from beginning to end.

Another excellent technique to accommodate a variety of readers' needs is to allow readers to read the book in any order they choose.
