God has given us dreams and we are told to pursue our dreams. If we never think in that way then we are doing what we think is ours. And if we do think that then we find the Author contradicting his statements. It feels you do what you like, but what you like was given to you by someone else. We should definitely pursue our dreams, as no matter who gave it, they are now ours. It's not a statement that you have to worry about, you need to see how you act. It's what counts.

In my opinion the author has not contradicted himself. My belief is we all have our dreams, but God is the one who guides us so He could be credited with putting us on the path to those dreams, though the final choice would be ours. Free will and all.

I do not think the author contradicted himself. God has created us with a purpose and it's in the pursuit of purpose that we find ourselves.
I believe the author implies that we should focus more on our own purposes and pursuits, which most often are God given but individually discovered.

I don't think the author contradicted himself. I feel that God gives everyone a divine purpose or destiny that they must fulfill and these divine directives reveal themselves to us in the form of dreams or passions, things that we feel in our heart of hearts that we are meant to be doing. So yes, we are meant to follow our dreams, which are given to us by God.

I don't think that the author has contradicted himself. I think what he means to say is that God gives us the ability to dream. It's up to us what we dream of and whether we accomplish our dreams or not.

I do believe that God has already a path for us, so that if we follow the path or our dreams, we will achieve happiness and at the same time fulfilling our dreams and making a difference. The hard part is to follow your dreams and at the same time be part of a family that maybe expects something else.

God is the creator of everything that belongs to us. There's no exception including your dreams! We're not forced to do fulfill the dreams of us.. If the passion is right there in the heart, it will lead the mind eventually heading us to make the dream come true whatever the hinderance is! If the desire to achieve the dream is unshakeable, god will make your endurance stronger!

According to the Christian religion which I can say I fully understand compared to the rest, God as the creator created and gave each person a destiny to fulfill. Most times people stray away and lose track of their dreams. That is the Self-will of God, He is not an authoritarian. It's not a contradiction just that topics like this have a touchy side to it.

I do not believe that the author has contradicted himself. We are free to pursue our dreams, but God is the one who lays those dreams on our hearts. We have free will, we can do as we want.

I don't think the author contradicts himself, but it is a tricky concept. What if your dream is not at all related to a life of service? Or if you're not even a believer?
Regarding your parents dreams...if they coincide with your own, that's great. But it is rare, in my experience. We are not here to fulfill whatever wishes our parents didn't fulfill, and good parents shouldn't try to live vicariously through their kids. I think most of us want to make our parents proud (I do) but we can achieve that by being ourselves.

No I don't think the author has contradicted himself. Gods Dreams for you is His "will". We have the choice to choose our own dreams but they are to be directed according to his will because his will is best for us and we will be happy in that.

Maybe the author wants to say that our true dreams are inspired by God. It's a very interesting and philosophical question! :) Considering humans have a free will, God only shows direction, but doesn't dictate us how to dream.

If someone has this kind of belief, it is not a contradiction for them since they believe that God can motivate and inspire dreams. At the end of the day, it is still up to the individual to make a move.

It may come across as contradictory , however what I got from reading that was we are going to pursue our own path in life based on our abilities but it is still apart of God's plan based on the fact that we as individuals having varying interests and abilities which are God given.

I don't think the author contradicted himself. I think the author is saying That our creams are apart of God's plan. We are given the ability to dream and pursue those dreams.
