I loved the ending because it showed that whichever way, there was a loss somewhere and gain. For example, the danger towards Michelle was inevitable, whether death or hurt. In one way or other there is supposed to be a special bond between Gary and Michelle's friend. Our thoughts greatly influence our actions.

The ending wasn't really good because Gary wasn't getting a happy ending and getting punished for the crime that he wasn't doing it.

I think the ending kept with the theme of the book as a whole. Different world lines are created by different decisions. So it makes absolute sense for one Gary to be found guilty and the other innocent.
Today's me is better than yesterday's me.

The ending was fantastic! By presenting the possibility of a different outcome, the author was able to provide closure. The reader can choose the ending that best suits them.
