This is a comical and detailed account of an engaged couple from Singapore’s, trip through the Islands of Flores and Sumba, Indonesia. The book begins with all the preparations the couple made before they began with their journey, through to their tales and experiences along the way.

This book is a detailed and comical personal account of their journey. The book gives great details to all the stops also experienced along the way to their destination. There are great descriptions of the villages they stay in, the transport they use, the accommodation and the different people they meet.

I loved the author’s writing style as the book was made easy to understand and you feel like you are experiencing the journey with them. The preparations the author describes at the beginning of the book gives the reader and idea of what to do and what to prepare for if they are planning such a trip. The author’s use of humour and excitement makes you want to experience the wonders of Flores and Sumba as they have, to eat all the different foods, learn the different languages ,cultures and enjoy the majestic animal life you will see. On the last few pages of the book the author has added some of the pictures that he took on his journey with detailed descriptions below so you can get an idea of what they are about.

I found this book to be a great book, it definitely made me think about planning a trip to Flores and Sumba in the future. The book gave great detail that was comical and to the point so you know exactly what each area will entail if you decide to take a trip there, and there have been no details left out whether they were good or bad. The only thing I was not a huge fan of was the cover, as it does not give any indication of the beauty of Indonesia.

I would recommend this book to anyone planning on going to the Islands of Flores and Sumba, as it will be a much better read than the usual boring tour guide books. I rate this book a 3 out of 4.
