Official Review: How to prevent your man from cheating.
How to Prevent Your Man from Cheating by Alicia Gray is an insight into some of the reasons why marriages get into such a state of disrepair that men tend to cheat. The book is short but packed with valuable information, some of which comes from her experience as a professional therapist.
The contents of this book will be of value to couples who are still in their honeymoon stage and want to stay that way, as well as couples who have lost the spark in their marriage and want to get it back. The author does acknowledge that women cheat as well, but her research statistics show that men tend to cheat at a higher rate than women do, and sex is not always the reason. Keeping that in mind, this book addresses steps that women can take in the relationship to reduce the chances of her husband straying.
The five important areas that Ms Gray wants women to focus on are (1) praise and appreciate him for his actions (2) have sex even when you don’t feel like it (3) stop the dominance and controlling (4) bring back the intimacy of touch to married life and (5) break the routine. Everyone is not perfect and everyone is not fully aware of the work necessary to keep sparks alive with their significant other. Suggestions accompany each of the five areas to accomplish positive results.
A huge part of the advice in this book centers around making the man feel validated, wanted, and needed. These needs are basic to men, and a conscious effort to supply them goes a long way toward making sex and intimacy automatic, thus keeping him home.
As a married woman I did pick up some pointers and I liked that the suggestions are written matter-of-factly. I do not totally agree with some of the advice, but I do plan to implement several of the suggested steps. It is a very good book to make you stop and remember what is important in relationships and what attributes attracted you to your partner in the first place.
I am not sure if this is part one of a two part series, but I would like to see more of what men can do to keep wives from cheating as well. I am sure that the author can adequately present both sides due to her professional therapy experiences and I would really look forward to a book from her on that subject. I highly recommend this book to any woman who wants to keep the man in her life happy and their relationship solid.
I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars.
