Official Review: Broken crutches by Kali Jenson

[Following is the official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Broken crutches" by Kali Jenson.]

I am giving this short book a 1-star rating out of 4.

Broken Crutches by Kali Jenson is a non-fiction, memoir type book. It deals with his “mental illness”.
As I opened the file, I was quite excited to read it. A non-fiction book that deals with a man’s experiences of substance abuse and a mental illness? I’m a sucker for books like those. Except, two sentences in, I could see this was badly written. Never mind all the spelling errors and sentence constructions that didn’t make a lick of sense, the content didn’t capture me for even a moment. Granted that the file is only three chapters long, I really think the author could have made more of an effort to document his experiences in a thought-provoking way.

The author clearly wanted to take the reader on a journey through his past as well as his present, but as he explains in the book, he is an attention seeker and the story ended up focusing only that. Throughout the book he came across as selfish. He has no regard for the rest of the people in his life. He admits to several attempts of suicide, not once considering the effects it would have on his wife and four children.

There is no structure to the book and I found the story completely lacking all the elements that make up a good novel. In fact it was a complete waste of my time. As an avid reader and book reviewer, I would not recommend this for anyone. It doesn’t give any insight into the authors’ problems, it doesn’t take you on a journey where the author grows and changes with each sentence. In fact, it doesn’t even make you feel an ounce of respect, sympathy or pity for the guy.

Clearly the author just wanted some attention and he probably gets satisfaction in negativity, because there is no way he could have expected any positive reviews from this badly written wasteland. The only thing that was accomplished in this book, was getting the reader to have complete heartfelt sympathy for his wife and children.

There is so much room for improvement that I cannot for the life of me believe that he actually put this out there for people to read. Maybe this book would be worthwhile if it had some sense of structure. But a slap-dash book that jumps from one place to the other with not even a glimmer of order, is boring, confusing and not even worth the time it takes to read the introduction.
