Self Esteem for Women: A Self Esteem Workbook For Women by Sophie James
Have you ever been overwhelmed in life? Been sick of yourself or your life? Felt so insignificant? Or have you just been unhappy?
Often times, it comes from within us, this dissatisfaction with life. We compare ourselves to others, and we often come up short. Or maybe we have been hurt one too many times. We’re a product of our experiences. Whether we have been bullied, or told we were not good enough by someone important.
Sound familiar? This book deals with that. If you have ever had self-esteem issues, whether you are male or female, this book helps. There is nothing about sexism in this book; it is just the author's testimony. She is a woman who has struggled with self-esteem for most of her life.
It’s very short, about 28 pages long. It’s a workbook, however, so grab a piece of paper, a notebook, or open up a document and start typing along to the question prompts.
I really enjoyed this book. The book asked me a lot of questions. I’ve had a life coach before, and she has employed some of these methods (the book is much, much cheaper than a life coach), and they really do help.
Writing down the answers help them to see what your thoughts are, and they make them more real. That is the beauty of this book. I wrote down my twisted and dumb thoughts, and I could literally spit at them and rip them apart. I hissed at my inner critic and stuck my tongue out. It’s the same thing my life coach recommends me to do; at a fraction of the cost.
Oh yeah, there’s a lot of positive affirmations, examples, and brilliant quotes. If you are in the mood to beat your inner critic, or the nasty little part of you that belittles you; if you are ready, then read this book. You’ll spend a lot of your time looking within yourself.
As you can see, I’ve suffered from self-esteem issues. If you have, you will find this book really useful. It’s really short, so it probably will not cause you any anxiety. It’s not textbook sized like those anxiety and phobia workbooks. Male or female, if you recognize that you need a boost, pick this book up. Don’t judge this book by its cover – or its title. It starts you on the right path.
There were a few booboos in the book; there was a formatting error that repeated the same information twice, and one of the books the author recommended did not have an author; I’m not even sure if the book listed was the full title. That can easily be fixed. However, that’s nothing to throw my hands up in the air about, and neither should you. This book is the first step to getting yourself back up (if you ever felt like you were down). I rate the book four out of four stars. Enjoy it.
