A free and honest press. I think it is the wish that most of the people of the world wish for. Using the news badly as a means of controlling the opinions of the world has greatly affected the course of many matters. Your review did the book justice and I enjoyed reading it
Life is hard on its own so let's make it easier for each other if we could.

It was Impromptu by Reid Hoffman. His point wasn't that it would necessarily be more accurate than human checkers but it could be real time and more universal.
I'll be sure to check it out, it sounds interesting at the very least!

I genuinely enjoyed reading your review. Your insights into the book are truly thought-provoking. The growing distrust in the news media and the impact of disinformation are undeniably pressing issues of our time. This book appears to offer a valuable exploration of this complex problem, shining a light on the inner workings of the press and its indispensable role in our democracy. Well done, indeed!

This is an insightful review. Awareness of the issue is key, although I think awareness among the populace does vary considerably. I feel like reading this book would be an Alice Through the Looking Glass-type situation - eyes wide open. It is scary how something that should be unbiased and factual can be used by people with influence or power to create the narrative of the day based on their goals. Great review.

Jennifer, thanks for your kind comments! I would agree with you that awareness does vary considerably; I was genuinely surprised at what I didn't know versus what I thought I did know! It is scary, but I think we're all coming around in terms of awareness and it will inevitably lead to improvements...I hope!

Thank you for your insightful review of "Shame the Devil" by Wayne J. Guglielmo. Your review captures the essence of the book and its relevance in today's world where media skepticism and polarization are prevalent. You've highlighted the book's strengths in exploring the history of media critics, the challenges faced by journalism, and the complexities of a free press in a commercialized world.

Your personal insights and appreciation for the author's fair presentation of different perspectives add depth to your review. It's clear that you found the book eye-opening and thought-provoking, which is a testament to its impact. Your acknowledgment of the lack of conclusive solutions is reasonable, given the complexity of the issue at hand.

Your review, with a well-deserved 4 out of 5 stars, suggests that while the book has some errors, it contributes significantly to the ongoing conversation about the news media's role in society. Your recommendation for a wide range of readers, including journalism students, lawmakers, and concerned citizens, highlights the book's broad appeal.
